Petit Café opened in 2020 in Oakland’s Pill Hill neighborhood. Owner Sheila Hollander says she decided to open the cafe because “I love fine food and beverages. and I wanted to bring something unique and special to Pill Hill. We are excited to serve cuisine inspired by travels to Europe and South America.”
Petit Café stands out because it serves both healthy and delicious vegetarian fare sourced from local vendors, not just because it’s a great spot in the East Bay to get a cup of Ritual Coffee.
Why did you choose Ritual as your roasting partner?
“We wanted to partner with a high-quality local roaster whose values and products align with the vision for our business. Also, we wanted to feature a woman-owned coffee company that provides an exceptional coffee selection.”

And what’s the café vibe like?
“We play a wide variety of music depending on time of day, our staff preferences, the weather outside: everything from French bistro playlists, to jazz, 70s & 80s, to Indie favorites. We serve a unique breakfast and lunch menu, pastries from Firebrand Breads, and offer a curated selection of wine and beer alongside our trusty La Marzocco espresso machine.”
Petit Café is open Monday-Friday from 7:30am-3pm, and is located at 411 30th Street in beautiful Oakland, CA.
