Brū Coffeebar has been serving amazing coffee to the Los Feliz neighborhood since 1999. Ritual is proud to have been a part of Brū’s journey (and menu) since 2010.
We chatted with owner Sharleen Mokhtarzadeh about running a small business and what sets Brū apart from the pack in Los Angeles.
What is unique about Brū?
“We provide excellent coffee served by outstanding humble baristas in a beautiful space!”
What about the most crave-worthy item that Brū is known for?
“Cold Brū”
Why did you choose Ritual as your roasting partner?
“Ritual was the only outstanding roaster in 2010 that provided training and support for new shop owners. Also, Eileen is awesome and she is a female small business owner!”
What would you say is your favorite part of owning your own business?
“The flexibility it offered me while I was raising my three kids (who are now all in college).”
Is there a cup of coffee that has changed your life?
“Am I allowed to say Starbucks in the 1990s?”
What’s your favorite gadget or piece of equipment at Brū?
“I love our espresso machine!”
And what’s the café music like?
“Each barista is allowed to play their own music.”
Is there another small business you’d like to give a shout-out to?
“Skylight, our local bookstore down the street!”
